Carried out a few little jobs on the Tiger this weekend.
First up was a new battery. The old one was getting a bit tired and struggled to start the bike if I left it off the tender for a few days. Since Ade and I are off on a little continental jolly at the end of next month, it seemed like a good plan to get a new one. YTZ14S isn’t actually the manufacturer recommended battery for the Tiger, but is a common aftermarket replacement that fits and has more cold cranking amps. Next time I will remember to wear ear plugs to counter the alarm doing its thing for the whole of the job.
Second, I scored some lovely ASV levers, second hand from a guy on the tiger1050.com forum. These bad boys are £75 each new. Mine for £40 the pair. Noticeably more solid and better made than the cheapo Chinese things I had on before.
Finally, a bit of a herd following moment with a new cam chain tensioner spring. The old one had shortened quite a bit. I’m not really convinced it was a problem, but I think it’s cleared up the top end rattle with a cold engine. I can’t be sure though, because of the tinnitus from changing the battery.
